Welcome to the Pocono Photo Club...

Our mission is to encourage knowledge, skills and enjoyment of photography through monthly meetings, workshops, lectures and demonstrations encompassing all phases of photography.

The Pocono Photo Club consists of area professionals, advanced amateurs and those just beginning their journey into photography. Our members photograph a wide range of subjects including nature, landscape, macro, portraiture, sports and much more.

📣 Heads up for the PPC upcoming photo exhibit "Nature Through Our Lenses" at Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center in June. Hanging will be June 3rd from 1 PM - 4 PM and there will be an artist's reception on June 8th 11 AM - 1 PM so be sure to get your photos ready!

📣 Also on June 8th from 3 PM - 8 PM COME ONE COME ALL to the annual PPC Summer Picnic! Hope to see everyone there (Brodhead Creek Park under the pavilion)!! A sign-up sheet will be available in the KW meeting room at our upcoming meeting on May 21st, but if you will not be attending the in-person meeting, you can use this link to sign-up to bring something: PPC Picnic Sign-up Sheet

For the presentation portion of our May Meeting, Dave Butler from Stroudsburg Foto and Sam Prynda, PPC Activities Director will lead a discussion about their love of photography, to include some of their favorite photos, their history, equipment preferences and how they have changed over the years. Cameras, techniques, editing preferences are some of the discussion items. They will then ask for members to add their own backgrounds and preferences, as well as ask for questions.

Dave Butler has had very interesting and diverse life experiences that I guarantee you will find interesting and perhaps surprising! Dave's knowledge of photography is broad and deep and he is a natural teacher and story teller. You don't want to miss this event.

"Practice What We Have Learned"!

At the Camera 101 class we put into practice what we learned in our previous two classes. We walked around the Pocono Heritage Trail At ForEvergreen Nature Preserve, taking pictures of plants, birds, nature, and hopefully the nesting Eagles!

Well, it was a drizzly evening, but we had a pretty good turnout. Unfortunately, the eagles have left the area. If any of you hardy souls captured some inspiring images of nature during this even, please consider sharing your inspiration with your fellow PPC members by uploading your best 1 to 5 images for a future meeting slideshow presentation.

Fresh On the Heels Of the Last PPC Photo Exhibition
(still hanging at Middle Smithfield Community Center until April 29th)

Our next exhibit will be in June at Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center (EEC)!!!

"Nature Through Our Lenses"

The guidelines for the Exhibit are as follows:

Date of Hanging will be June 3rd 2024, between 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
No frame Size Limits.
3 - 5 images per member.
Must have hanging wire on back.
Submission form must be completed for each picture.
Name Tag on Each photo.
Pick Up date is before 4:30 p.m. June 28th 2024.
Volunteers to help hang would be appreciated.
Please contact Eric, Steen, or Sam if you have any questions.

PPC Summer Picnic!

Brodhead Creek at the Hosko Pavilion
(near the Pond)

Saturday June 8th 2024

From 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Our annual summer picnic will be June 8th at the Brodhead Creek Park in East Stroudsburg (the same pavilion as last year).

Please bring a covered dish, refreshments or something special. We will have a signup sheet available at the next in-person meeting. Otherwise please see the link where everyone can input what they are bringing: PPC Picnic Sign Up Sheet

Also please bring a bag chair, your camera, and a lot of great stories.

CATEGORIES:

1. Mystery – an element of mystery – don’t tell the whole story by leaving something out!
2. Candlelight – embrace the darkness – the photograph must be lit by candlelight only
3. Love – interpret the subject BUT no kids, pets, parents, or partners – go DEEPER
4. Classic Still Life – gather two pieces of fruit and one object of your own choice to create a
classic still life but in a modern, unexpected context
5. Negative Space – use this with “wild and reckless abandon” – making your main subject a
very small part of the composition
6. Textures – photograph a juxtaposition of texture: put smooth against rough or rough
against smooth BUT – don’t just stop with those two textures!
7. Foregrounds – your foreground subject must be out of focus with the background in focus

The 2024 Scavenger Hunt began March 1st 2024.
